Busy parents know that anything which helps to streamline housekeeping is a great idea, especially when you have young children. Bedtime can be a hassle and the morning ritual a disaster if you don’t have a plan so kid’s bedding that is both fun and functional is always a big idea.
We love nap mats and sleeping bags as temporary sleep solutions, both for use at home and on the go. One nap mat per child was a day care requirement but we soon found that having an extra nap mat for use at home and while to grandma’s or just on play dates helped to keep the napping routine more manageable. Later those nap mats were handy for guests; as the kids grew up sleeping bags replaced the nap mats but we still use them all the time.
Let the kid’s lounge on a sleeping bag in front of the television or video game and save the comforters and quilts for use on the bed – they will last so much longer. Big floor pillows were another big idea – we made a rule that the bed pillow stays on the bed and the floor pillows are for lounging; our bedding sets last longer, look better and we end up doing less laundry because the bedding is not exposed to food or floor dirt.
